What a Great Weekend

STARworks Ceramics is pleased the Open House with Shimpo USA and Cone Art Kiln went very well and there were many people came to see the event. Thank you all so much.

It was a lot of work for all staff of STARworks Ceramics (especially clean up the huge space), and we are happy the event was a great success. We really appreciate Yosuke Koizumi's & Karen Wise's wonderful demonstrations and lectures, and Ian Chung's useful&helpful lecture of electric kiln.

Materials arrived 12/7

It's been low stock in our warehouse, but we finally got materials arrived this afternoon. We have lots of Highwater premix clays and dry materials. STARworks Ceramics Supply Shop will be closed form Dec 19th until after new year, so please email/call your order to us as soon as possible.

SW Ceramics Original T-shirts

You might have seen our original T-shirts at Celebration of Seagrove Potters, and Takuro Shibata, the director of STARworks Ceramics designed it and Evan Morgan, Wet Dog Glass made them.

There is a phrase in front and it said "Kikuneri Sannen" in Japanese. It literally means " Spiral wedging clay takes three years to learn" and it implies "don't be too confident, but be patient and keep practice". It's common proverb of pottery villages in Japan because Japanese potters believe clay is the most important element for pottery making.

NC Local Cone 6 Clays

Now STARworks Ceramics just started selling cone 6 white stoneware (STARwhite 6) and cone 6 brown stoneware (Okeewemee 6). Those clays are very local clay mix and it's very very plastic. Please try and let us know your opinion. If you want to know more about our slay, just give us a call or email.

Flowers and Herbs

Although you might have thought it's very bad (and sad) shape, but finally we planted flowers and herbs on two flower beds next to the front door of STARworks Ceramics. Now it looks much nicer than used to be. Most plants were given by STARworks Garden and a little bit plants and seeds came from my home garden. A lot of thanks to Anne!

It will take a time to be settled. The right side is herbs, the left side is flowers. When you come to our shop, please take a look.

We got more tools in our shop recently. We have lots of Orton Cones and pottery batts. If you need some of them, just stop by or call us.

New Bamboo Tool, Faceting Tool!

We start making new bamboo tool, Faceting tool. You can use this for faceting pots and trimming top part of clay when you are throwing pots. The string is very fine 49 of stainless steel wire drape very naturally. It means very strong and cut clay easily. Please try this new tool and enjoy it.
